Very simply, a mixed case of wines that we feel offer outstanding value for money.  I know that it's a tough life, but we taste thousands of wine each year and only the very best make it onto our list.  These are just a few examples.  And there is something for everyone in this case, different styles, regions and varieties.  We hope you enjoy them as much as we do.

The whites include Henri Bourgeois' entry level wine, Petit Bourgeois Sauvignon Blanc, which I think is almost as good as his top wine at double the price.  Classic Loire sauvignon with crisp green fruit and lovely minerality.  The Loimer Riesling from Austria has been a star for a while now, just off dry but with beautiful peach and apricot fruit, some citrus and a firm backbone of acidity.  Many's the time I've gone to pour another glass only to realise that the bottle is already finished.  Finally, from the Mount Barker region of Western Australia is Plantagenent's sublime Chardonnay.  Beautiful fruit and elegant use of oak is the order of the day here, and these wines seem to get better with each vintage.

The reds are La Pieve's Fortebraccio Chianti, a stunning wine full of rich cherry fruit, spice and complexity that tastes like a far more expensive wine.  The Rioja Crianza from Vina Izadi showcases what lovely fresh fruit comes from the region if it is not cloaked heavily in oak.  There's a touch of oak here, but the fruit really expresses itself.  To the USA and a great value Zinfandel from Peachy Canyon.  Now most Zin can tip the alcohol scales at 15% plus, but this one is a mere 13.9% and the wine can stand this comfortably.  Luscious rich dark fruit and sweet spice make this the perfect partner for grilled or roasted red meat.  (Mike)
